About
Amber McConnell received her Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in Psychology at Acadia University and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University. Amber has diversified experience in a variety of settings, including the correctional system, forensics, outpatient mental health services, and private practice.
Amber’s clinical practice includes providing assessment, crisis intervention, and individual psychological treatment to adults facing a wide range of difficulties and mental health issues, such as anxiety- and depression-related disorders, chronic pain management, addictions, trauma and abuse, emotions management difficulties, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders.
Amber’s practice is primarily based in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy; however, she draws from a number of other evidence-based therapies, such as Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment, and Solutions-Focused techniques. She takes a “down to earth”, informed, and practical approach to clients concerns and emphasizes creating a very collaborative therapeutic relationship.
