About

Darrah Kennedy is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She completed her Master of Science in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary and her thesis research focused on the impact of trauma on adult psychological functioning.

Darrah’s approach to counseling is one of curiosity. She is client-centered and uses active listening and reflective questioning to draw out important and relevant information. She strongly feels that the answers are within the client, and even children are able to identify what they perceive to be the problem and how they might solve it, if provided a safe, non-judgmental space to explore. By co-creating this safe environment with her clients, Darrah helps to frame short term achievable goals and highlights even small gains which instills hope and a sense of measurable progress. Modeling a growth mindset, she helps her clients use their strengths to build strategies towards success and healthy habits.

To help draw out the client’s particular experiences and challenges, Darrah employs a range of techniques and interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Attachment Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).

Her interests include linking personal development and physical health, Vipassana meditation, and taking long walks in nature.
