Sydney graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Upon completion of this program, she was awarded the Canadian Occupational Therapy Foundation’s Future Scholar Award. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Neuroscience from the University of Alberta. During her Master’s degree, Sydney completed her thesis on attention rehabilitation following traumatic brain injury. Her passion for learning about the complexity of the human brain and desire to develop meaningful connections with others has led her to enter the field of Occupational Therapy.
As a therapist, Sydney’s goal is to cultivate a collaborative relationship with her clients, while employing a holistic, individualized and evidence-based approach. She is passionate about enhancing the quality of life of those she works with through supporting engagement in all meaningful activities. Accordingly, Sydney participates in many professional development courses, and frequently reviews literature to ensure she is providing the best possible care to her clients. Her special interests include concussion, brain injury, mental health, chronic pain management, and vocational rehabilitation.
When Sydney is not at work, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, spending time with friends and family, and travelling.
